Megalops Atlanticus aka Tarpon! People from all over the world come down to get a chance to pull on a big silver king. Some people prefer to fly fish for ocean cruising fish, or laid up fish in the backcountry, and others rather catch them on bait. It really doesn’t matter how you catch them, they are one of the most exciting fish to catch on any tackle.
I’ve been fishing from Biscayne Bay to the upper Keys, to Florida Bay chasing tarpon for the past several weeks now. The tarpon fishing has been pretty consistent for the month of April and it’s only going to get better with May and June around the corner. This is prime time for migrating fish.
Government cut still has plenty of fish in it and allot of my evening trips have been chasing tarpon in the cut. It’s been very warm the past couple of weeks and this has pushed out some fish to move south, and this has given us plenty of opportunities to fly fish for them on the ocean side flats in Biscayne Bay. Islamorada has been very consistent and that’s where I’m going to be for the next couple of day’s chasing tarpon.
Now is the time to get out their and chase some poons. If you interested in booking a trip I have some day’s open in May and June due to some cancellations. I will be offering some special package rates for more than three day’s of fishing. Give me a call for more details and availability.
